Synopsis:

From New York Times bestselling author K. Bromberg comes a new, sexy standalone about taking chances and finding love when it’s least expected. Or wanted.

This whole contest was supposed to be easy. I know, I know. Famous last words.

It’s a long story, but I messed up at work. Big time. To earn back the trust of my boss, I promised to save one of our magazines. Yep. That Hot Dad contest you’ve seen advertised all over the place was my idea. And if I’m successful, if I’m able to increase our online readership, then I get a shot at my dream job.

But the one thing I never expected to happen, happened: Contestant number ten, Grayson Malone. Hello, Mr. Difficult. And did I mention sexy as hell?

Unfortunately he knows me. The old me, anyway. And while we might be older now, I remind him of before. Of the woman who broke his heart, who hardened him, and who left him alone to raise the cutest little boy I’ve ever seen.

But I don’t want a relationship. And I definitely don’t fall for single dads with baggage. Even ones with chiseled abs and killer smiles.

But he got to me. They got to me. Him and his son and their messy, crazy life. But I got to him too. I see the stolen glances. I feel the walls he built start to crumble. I recognize that there’s an unexpected beauty to the chaos in his life.

And now that the contest is about to end, we’re left to decide whether the last six months were just fun or if what we have is worth risking it all?

Review: Surj

There are certain ingredients you find in a book and know you're on to a winner and that was absolutely the case with K Bromberg's "Worth the Risk. I mean seriously, check out this list and tell me I'm wrong?

Single Dad
Cutest kid ever
Rescue pilot (saving lives for a living!!!!)
Tortured, broody, moody hero
The most undomesticated, happily single heroine needing to prove herself at work
Brilliant secondary characters in the form of the Malone clan
Wonderful small town setting

Can you tell I absolutely loved this final Malone Brothers book? Uh huh!!! I'd already been swept off of my feet by two of the Malone men (Grady and Grant) in "Cuffed" and "Combust" but it was Grayson's story that I couldn't wait to get my mitts on and let me tell you, "Worth the Risk" was definitely worth the wait.

"She tastes like heaven and hell. Like want and need. Like deception and desire."

This was such an emotionally charged story that really tugged at the heart strings for so many reasons. Grayson's plight was one that broke my heart and I completely got why he was so angry and so opposed to having any kind of relationship with the opposite sex. This man had been burned and burned in the worst possible way and he had no intention of ever going there again. I got it. I really did.

“You should have let me have a choice in the matter whether
or not I fell in love with you. But you didn’t. And now it’s for nothing.”

Sydney was a woman who had drive and ambition but unfortunately a few hiccups along her career journey meant that she now had to prove her worth in the work place if she had any chance of moving up the career ladder she so desperately wanted. How could I not feel for her? It seemed that whenever she tried to do the right thing, she ended up in hot water!!!!

Both Grayson and Sydney's journeys were paved with obstacles and road blocks but I still routed for them every step of the way. It was difficult not to fall in love with Grayson but it was Sydney and her character growth that really stole the show for me. Her self awareness and ability to own up to her mistakes (both past and present) left me in awe.

"You take risks every damn day in your job—
you’ve made a name for yourself doing it—and yet,
you won’t take a goddamn risk on me, will you?”

I loved the "family" feel to "Worth the Risk" and with the Malone's, I always felt more than welcome round their table (in the fictional sense of the word obviously... lol). Plus the small town feel also added a special something. The icing on the cake however was Luke who was just the cutest little man ever who came out with the funniest things!!! It's all about the innies and outies!!!!!

I thoroughly enjoyed this final Malone Brothers story and am kinda gutted it's over. However, I would love to see grown up Luke get his own book. I can image that would be funny as f**k!!!!

"Worth the Risk" gets ❤️❤️❤️❤️
